Daniel J Hodgins, an internationally renowned early childhood presenter and author of two books, emphasizes the importance of empathy in early years education. In a research project, Hodgkins suggests that early years educators need to empathize with children, families, and staff members. The study explores the types of work performed by early childhood education and care professionals working with children up to three years of age.
Empathy is recognized within Early Childhood Education (ECE) and is essential for fostering close empathic relationships with children. Hodgkins’ research focuses on the brain development of young children and its influence on the design of education and teaching.
Hodgkins’ work on childhood Hodgkin lymphoma highlights the need for educators to develop equitable systems of support using the MTSS framework. The study also highlights the importance of addressing the emotional labor inherent in working with mothers of disadvantaged preschool children.
LaGrange District 105 serves the district’s preschool age students at Hodgkins Elementary, offering three sections, two morning sessions, and one survivorship workbook. These resources help educators improve student outcomes and provide essential information for parents and children during diagnosis, treatment, follow-up care, and long-term care.

Was diagnosed by accident two years ago when family Dr. pursued enlarged lymph nodes in neck caused by epstein barr virus(blood work showed)..but 4 biopsies showed Cll/Sll….now blood work every 3 months with physical and ct scan yearly….three oncologists now say just watch and wait….63 years old and lymph nodes are small pea size and blood work has been excellent they all say…..I am told blood work won’t necessarily show either condition if its slow growing with no symptoms….the biopsies are the gold standard doctors go by…..thankyou sir for this article.
I went to my doctor in July as I had had a 3inch lump in my neck for 8 weeks, which is still there. I was diagnosed with B-Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, this week, but they think it is low grade, but need to do another biopsy to make sure. The doctor said that itching skin and night sweats are not part of the symptoms, but I have read so much that says it is. I feel tired all the time and generally feel unwell. I can’t sleep due to pain in my hips and anxiety due to diagnosis. At the moment they are going to watch and wait.
What about if I have Sjogren’s Syndrome?? I’ve been advised that I’m highly likely to get non-Hodgkins lymphoma. I suffer from night sweats and have no lumps although I have a bright red rash under my left arm that comes and goes? Can I have a blood test to confirm or what should I do?? I also suffer from weak legs and am extremely tired even after about 15 hours sleep. Please reply I would truly appreciate it.
Three years after I was diagnosed with Sjorgrens in 2010, I got the low-grade lymphoma in my salivary gland. I needed 17 radiation treatments. Four or five years after my first diagnosis, I got it again in my salivary gland on the right side of my face. I only needed 2 radiation treatments. Now it’s 2023, I’m about due for my third lymphoma journey. I’ll be 73 years old. I had to get new health insurance, and now I have to pay $394 a month due to this low-grade damn lymphoma. The first time I had the biopsy and went to a cancer doctor, he told me I had the best cancer to have. I don’t think any cancer Is the best to have. I’ve been cursed. Damn Sjorgrens. Everything with my body is very dry. I guess it’s better than Lupus.
@lymphoma action I have had small knots on both sides of my they get or grow inside some and then they go back down smaller. If I rub my throat the knots will rub together and it sounds like rocks rubbing together. At times they are sore and sometimes painful. Had them for a long time and within the last year I’ve gotten a lump on the left side of the top of my head which will also grow in size some and then go back down smaller. My doctor just told me it’s swollen lymph nodes I’m not so sure. One of the knots in my throat has edges around it. I’m curious if lymphoma follicular lymphoma is only lumps or can it be knots in a person’s throat. I do have a lump on the top of the left side of my head that came up last year. So is it only lumps or can it be not too. I’m extremely weak and tired and after I eat I get even weaker. If you could please let me know if it’s only lumps or can it be knots to I’d be so appreciative. Anyone that can help me with this I would appreciate it. God bless everyone
I am really worried. The lymph node on my neck has been swelling for at least 4 months now, and I also had mononucleosis two years ago. Ever since then my health hasn’t been as good and I get tired a lot easily. My doctor did an ultrasound and a blood test. And according to him it is not lymphoma or hypothyroidism. The blood test shows that my blood platelet count and lymphocytes is pretty normal. And the ultrasound shows that my biggest lymph node in the area is only 6mm. But I would like to point out that I am less than 5 ft, so I think that 6mm is relatively big for my body size. I was wondering if I should insist on taking a biopsy even if my doctor said that the result from the blood test and ultrasound indicates that I don’t have lymphoma.
Mine is over and under my eyebrow and also have had a hemi thyroid operation, I now have to have the other side as it was carcinoma, one consultant said the lymphoma was more important and the other one said the thyroid one is more important I’m really upset and worried I have letters saying what the diagnosis is one is right and one is wrong we can’t seem to get an explanation
Hello Doctor, This was a wonderful article for my questions and medical conditions I am going through ! I hope you could suggest me some best solution. I am 33 years old, I have developed many lumps recently which is quite plainly under my armpit, I have been noticing them since couple of weeks. The changes I observed, sometimes one goes small ( still painful when pressed ) other lump develop in just nearby to the earlier. Some of other issues I’m going through Bloating, allergic to food, spasm, tightness breathing, I am not able to figure out what I am doing wrong ! Is there way I can discuss with you. Is this a temporary inflammation or something to pay attention ⚠️. Is the alarm to report to our medical consultant, if so, what specialist would probably handle such cases. Thank you I’m advance Ashwath
I’ve been on Prednisone (originally on 60mg), for nearly 4 years for GCA and PMR I have now tapered down to 2mg . I’ve found a soft, painless lump, about 2 1/2 inchs in size above my left clavicle and similar lump on the inside of my right ankle. I noticed them about 2 weeks ago. I have no other symptoms. My concern in this time of covid (I’m in Southern California), is finding someone who can help me. My rheumatologist has referred me to my primary care physician, who is very young and inexperienced. (I belong to an hmo called Kaiser) How do I get this young physician to help me? What kind of questions should I ask her to get help? I am also taking care of my husband who has idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and is now on oxygen 24/7. I have no one to talk to.
