  2. Use your normal Facebook account for development purposes.

  • I have been tearing my hair out for a week trying to set up something so simple (only because FB makes it incredibly difficult). Thank you SO MUCH. I am no longer twisted into the fetal position. You are now my FB ads guru. I just subscribed — I was seriously thinking of hirirng someone to set up my (very simple) ad campaigns but with your help, I think I can dive right in! Thanks again!

  • I am new to Facebook. Never had a reason to use it until now that I have a company. Unfortunately, I have tried this and signed up 4 different times to Facebook with a new personal accounts each time and verified with my phone and state ID but when I get to create a Meta Business Account it restricts me and then a few hours later “permanently restricts” me. Now, I’ve burned all my official company email accounts trying to do this. How am I being kicked off Facebook if I’ve never even posted and I’ve provided all documentation that I am a real person with a real company. Meanwhile… my wife has a fake burner account that is 10 years old and she showed me that she can create fake businesses all she wants. This is totally frustrating. Any suggestions?

  • Hi Ben, I’m just very confused with Meta and ads manager. I am currently managing a Facebook page of someone, and I’m trying to go to Ads manager to create a campaign. However, the ads manager appears to be my personal account and not the Facebook page that I am currently handling. if this info helps, I am admin to that persons personal account. What can I do to fix this?

  • Hey man, I really appreciate the updated guide. It’s so strange though, when I’m helping my client through this, I’m in meta business but I don’t see any of these options here… I go to business settings and then it takes me back to the meta login again? Also it won’t let me add someone to the account that’s not already a friend. Perplexed over here

  • Why do I keep getting this message when trying to change my username? It’s very annoying because I am the owner and have connected my account properly. “The content you requested cannot be displayed right now. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may have expired, or you may not have permission to view this page.” Thank you!!

  • Hello bro. Am starting out as a social media manager and I’ve been following through your articles however my account was restricted from running advertisement also one of my clients was forever banned from running ads. Am so stressed, do I create another Facebook account and set up a business account?😢. Please advice, thanks bro

  • Hey Ben, question related to currency for the payment method. I’m in South Africa and the payment method on my website is through PayPal, and because it isn’t yet available in ZA, I’ve selected USD as payment method for the item. However Facebook requires payment currency for their payment method but I don’t know if I want to permanently select USD or Rands, as one can’t change it later. What would be the best to do considering that I sell digital products online, which I want to be available worldwide. Looking forward to your response!

  • Ben – awesome article. I set my account up wrong awhile back. I have a business page and I went to create a business account in business manager and I got the message unable to create account. You have reached the limit for the number of businesses you can create at this time. I have been on chat with FB for at least two hours today. Any advice on my next step? I need to get this worked out and I am not sure what I should do.

  • Hello, thank you for the article! Very helpful! At the beginning you are explaining that we need to connect on our “personal facebook profile”, do you recommend creating a personal business profile for your company with the company email etc… or are you really using your personal facebook profile, one that is not public?

  • Awesome! Should my account overview have my personal FB page? I am looking at Account Overview / Facebook / Catalog and it is showing Products for ( my name) personal catalog. I thought I should only show any product information under my FB business page. I am also showing an ad account that has my facebook profile pic and name and I am sure this is incorrect. Getting it deleted is a nightmare. Do you offer 1:1 assistance with getting my business suite and manager setup correctly? I’ve been messing with it too much that I somehow have two Business accounts with the same name and different amount of assets along with my personal FB profile page with one asset and apparently I ran an ad under it but that ad has all my business page info on it.

  • Hi Ben! Great article! I wish I had theese information earlyer. My private facebook profile is permanently restricted from advertising and I still don’t know the reason, for 9 months now. I tried everything but nothing resolved my problem. What do you suggest me to do? To use for ex. my husbands profile for work or? I know I can’t opend my own because I already have one. I don’t want to delete it because I have it for 15 years now and I have many dear memories on ti. Thanks

  • Anyone have experience with immediately getting suspended from your new business accounts and being unable to successfully use the sms recovery methods to complete verification to have the restrictions reviewed? I followed this articles methods and after successfully making a Facebook account, waiting the one hour, then making a business account I was immediately locked out of both. Going through the troubleshooting steps is useless because whenever I enter my cell phone number for the sms authentication, no code comes through and I can’t progress in the process. And it seems it’s impossible to talk to a human at FB. Any recommendations for what to do next?

  • Hello! I created business account for the business I work for, they already had a FB page. I finally managed to create the business account and now when I try to add a payment method it is automatically showing my personal details /expired/ that I had put in years ago for something totally different. Is that normal? How to move forward?

  • Hi Ben, Great articles, thank you! At 4:10 you talk about adding an existing page. I’ve been pulling my hair out on this one! I am an admin on a Page which also has a connected Instagram account and I am trying to move them into a new Business Account. When I enter the page into The field and click “Next” it asks me to confirm and click the ‘Claim Page and Instagram” button, agreeing to terms etc. This is where it fails. The pop-up window tries to Auth on Instagram but is giving an error. I am already logged into IG in the same browser so not sure why it’s trying to Auth again. The result is it won’t complete the process. Any insight would be very much appreciated!

  • Please I need your help, I’m trying to add my instagram account to the business account and when I enter the username and password for my instagram account it just starts over again although the password isn’t wrong and I got an email saying that “we noticed a new login to your account, If this was you, you won’t be able to access certain security and account settings for a few days.” What should I do please and what is the reason for that??

  • Hi Ben, great article just subscribed 🙂 Can you please tell me if I can create a Meta Business account for the owner of the the business instead of having the owner himself do it ? I’m an employee for a company and they asked me if I can do it, so I should use my personal FB profile and then make the owner admin as well?

  • I set up a meta account linked to my personal account. Unfortunately, because I didn’t submit verification documents within 30 days( I didn’t know at the time there was a limit) my account is restricted from running ads. There is no case specific support from facebook and it is their final decision. Can I set up a new personal acoount and create a new meta account for my business through that? or will there be an issue with the age of the new account or my business name saying already taken or duplicate account? Please help this is so frustrating!

  • Hi Ben, I have a question about facebook business page/account, I manage a facebook business page that I did not set up and am unable to set up shopping. On the business page I have full access. When I go into my facebook business suite, that business page shows up as an asset rather than a business account. Does this mean there is no business account set up for that business page? When I go on the business page (it is in the new pages experience), It shows all the people with page access and at the bottom under business account access, it shows the name of the business with a meta business account ID. Does this mean there is a business account set up but I do not have access? Thanks

  • Hi Ben. My personal Fb account got hacked. I also have a business page which is still there. I had to create a new personal profile, however I cannot get access to my business account. The page is there but I cannot post on the page. I can only comment as a follower. Is there a way for you to help me

  • Hey, I just watched your article and I have a question. I used to have 2 business accounts linked to my personal FB account. I deleted them recently because I didnt need them anymore and I wanted to start a fresh business account. But, now when I try to create a new business account, i receive the following error message: “Unable to Create Account. You have reached the limit of the number of businesses you can currently create.” Is there an easy fix to this problem? Does anyone have ever encountered this issues before and knows how to fix it? Any help would be appreciated!

  • Thank you Ben! I wish I have seen this article earlier… I have a question: I have created Meta Business manager and lost control over everything: my business facebook, Instagram. Is it possible to remove everything and start from the scratch with my personal account, my online shop’s account and Instagram account? Can I delete Meta business and Add manager without deleting my Facebook and Instagram pages?

  • Hi Ben! What if, i had to manage lots of brands. such as one mother company had several sister companies, and they wanted to advertise them all. including the mother company. should I make a lot of Facebook account for them all, or I just need 1 FB account and create FB pages as much as I want? 1 FB to manage all brands, or each brands need to make 1 FB? thankyouuu

  • You just helped me claim so many of my pages. I kept thinking I did it wrong and had to start over. I’m like a agency for my own businesses. I need help with clients that I work with. How can I utilize your services? I work with inmate and disabled authors and looking to scale soon with my state but I want the best for my clients. It’s nonprofit so I would be paying that’s why I wouldn’t refer them until they finish the program or doesn’t go through it.
