📹 Eckhart Tolle’s Simple Guide to Living in the Present Moment
Eckhart Tolle shares practical guidance on cultivating presence and awareness in daily life. Learn how to engage with your sense …
My mind talked all the time. Sometimes in that present moment i didn’t feel peace or joy, it immediately blamed that i am not doing good enough, not present enough etc. And then it made all kinds of method and convince that i am in present moment. But the good thing is i can catch those thoughts and go back to the body, to the heart and feel the present instead of thinking about it. 😅
this is incredibly true. i used to be so dissociated from myself, my body, life in general. never really noticed that before. never saw how it was completely ruining my life and resulted in anxiety, depression and feelings of dissociation. ofc there were underlying problems that caused me to resort to not being present as a defense mechanism, but now i’m slowly becoming more and more mindful and noticing things about myself that i never saw before EVER. it’s incredible. just a few hours ago i was able to notice how dissociated i got after playing article games for an hour or two. NEVER saw it before. crazy stuff.
This is why I love cats. And dogs to the same degree. You see, cats really live in the present. They see a threat, their tail bushes up and get very apparent about the present thing. They hear a car go by, their ears pay full attention. A bag of treats rustles, they forget everything but that sound. And their obsession with room corners is down to the weirdness of it’s symmetry…maybe a few etheral beings too, who knows. And OMG dogs. Dogs live everyday like it’s their first day on earth, every day. That joy in their vibe. That smile of excitement when a lead gets shown for a walk or just open air fills their delicate noses. Everything is forgotten as the moment passes, it’s to be admired.
I struggle to be present because my mind feels like it’s able to take me back into a tight anxiety written head space all the time. It sucks. I feel like I am naturally like this. Meditation does help, but it gets frustrating that everytime I meditate I just feel the tension in my head and it makes meditation hard but I pull through. One thing I remember is to live from a heart space. When I live authentically through a heart space I find joy in the presence. I can live, peacefully, with no worries.
For me it helps to look at my hands or what’s right in front of me. A lot of times I notice I’m zoning out, so actually looking at details of the things that are in front of me helps. Like looking at the plants in the room I’m in or looking at my cup of coffee. That together with feeling my breathe and body helps.
I have problem staying in the moment I can’t even stop keep my crush secret people can see me says it in my head when I look at them I can’t even hide I have huge mind wandering problem it keeps causing anxiety depression sadness and I keep praying and it’s not helping I have been having this problem since October 2016 till now but I will cling on to god and keep praying 🤲🏽 tomorrow I have job interviews tomorrow so I’m trying to not worry about it or think about I think I have ocd
I’ve been really realising how separate I have been from the present and from my body recently, although I know now that the disconnect has been there for years. I often come back to myself with absolutely no knowledge or recollection of what I was doing or thinking just 5 seconds ago, those fleeting moments when I would become aware again really scared me at first and were so jarring that I resisted actually ‘staying’. Working on it now!! Even just noticing small things around me like how my screen feels under my fingers as I type this has helped me so much, I still have moments where I zone out but I know how to help myself when it happens:) thank you!!
Wow… So true when put so simply. Music, movement, excersize, singing and cleaning, connecting with others through conversation helps me to stay present! Having good self awareness to be able to notice the shift… when the ego is at play. Thank you! I needed to be reminded of the power of just being present 🙌🏾
The present moment would be an infinitely tiny unit of time…nothing you could even perceive, in the same way that you cannot perceive a single frame of a movie in isolation. Your teaching is not found in any Sutra…its just modern nonsense. Buddhism is not about ‘your whole life’. Life could end a nanosecond from now….its nothing you can rely on. Buddhism is about liberation from life.
I had a crazy awareness when you just said that I have my own little fidget toy that I kind of had my whole life. I didn’t realize it was a fidget toy until I got older and seeing kids with their fidget toys, but I realized that it’s my body that’s intelligent trying to pull me into the now by fidgeting with something in my hands trying to pull me into now because your body is the now moment
Thank you, it is a challenge to stay in the present, when things are tough. Embracing those feelings without questioning what lead you to the moments of a grieving loss, a heated argument, rejection…or regret. I guess, as we stay present, we grow in those dark moments or tragedies, escaping is not the answer
Thank u . This is a really good topic . I want to share a bit about my story, lately I have started to learn that my overthinking stems from fear, because after I survived a trauma I became so fearful of people giving up on me and stuff like that, that I started overthinking my future and thinking that by securing myself I wouldn’t need ti ask help from anyone which is true haha I also care so much about what others think about me and always beleive that others are judging me or thinking bad things about me, or that they hate me … but I really have to be presrnt in the moment because this is the only escape, trying to control every situation only makes things worse . And I can’t ficus when k am constantly fantasizing and overthinking, it became a habit for me, I spend like hours and hours just thinking, which is so bad, I beleive I am someone I am not but rather want to become instead of accepting my present self . I struggle with falling asleep at night sometimes, this is really bad .
❤Well, first and foremost, I would like to say you have a new subscriber. That was profound. That was priceless info. And especially your delivery the way you put it into words the way you expressed it the way you broke it down the way you made it makes sense, and you are exactly right, of course but the way you explained it really resonated with me and helped me a lot. I really want to express more but I really appreciate it. Thank you. This is my first time seeing you. I’m working in the program now. Well with a program with other people and is teaching me to be in a present moment, but the way you wrote this down oh my gosh, I will be keeping this at the forefront of my mind, and sharing with others, so good so good❤ I NEEDED to hear this! Thank you higher self for leading me here❤
Trying to quieten the mind is pure idiocy. Awareness of what actually is requires no meditator, and indeed is non-action, because there IS only ever awareness and what is: so it’s the pure, original non-action of awareness which illuminates the actual nature movements, and movements of thought, action and life AS THEY ARE ACTUALLY. It is ONLY in this way that one can begin to understand the ACTUAL, the natural and conditioned movements of life, mind and consciousness. Quietening the mind is so obviously dualistic and flawed because if you don’t have a quiet mind, you can only hope thereby to impose one artificially, and what is to impose this artificial presence? It can only be the brain, and the brain can only stifle it’s own operations, which is suppression. Suppression is not real silence and requires effort. Trying to be present is obviously dualistic and so is effort, because effort is resistance to what is in the hope of getting somewhere else. Nothing here is real meditation, which is the natural fruit of understanding and discovering, through your own observation of your own life, the need to become aware of what is happening within yourself ALL OF THE TIME, which is not something you can instruct without creating this dualism described. You have to see and discover it in yourself, and so it is all about being aware of what is as it is, and given that there is only ever awareness of what is, you cannot teach awareness of what is. You can only ever hope to help the brain to understand the IMPORTANCE of this awareness of what is, which is always ever there, as opposed to it’s own functional, socially conditioned and security seeking activities, which include following Eckhar Tolle and tryng to practice prescence which is pure destructive nonsense, ignorance and stupidity.
This man has been saying the same truth since the day I discovered him more than a decade ago and he never tires of repeating himself. That in itself is almost messiah-esque; feelings of someone on a mission. It’s obvious to me then that the words are meaningless, and only points the way, to the way. I hope to see some of you on the journey. Safe travels.
Love eckhart I just think there’s alot of confusion around ego death ive watched Nero knowledge on youtube and his articles are amazing he’s helped me understand spirituality more as before it sounded frightening but he explains it in a way that isnt frightening and he basically just says you need to let go of your old frequency so stop feeding the thoughts and emotions you dont want anymore so then your born into the new frequency etc etc
All is one, there is not two. You know it already, you know it’s true. You can look and look but there’s nothing to find The truth’s just been hidden by the chatter of your mind. Oneness is here, now – not somewhere above Oneness is All, oneness is LOVE. See it and a smile in your heart will appear Your life filled with JOY and nothing to fear.
Mr Tolle is misleading to many people because there is no teaching no method at all. He himself has no background in the yogic path. He got awake so very good for him. Of course the credit is for his tireless contribution but I will also be critical. everyone has an individual path to live & experince. So the audience just needs to have a panic attack or high level of anxiety as it happened to him for the awakening meantime practicing the power of now. There is no teaching on purification or training which does work wonders – the whole Buddhist & yogic synthesis is a wonderful methods to whom it resonates. It needs to be adapted of course but they do work. No One awakes automatically One has to prepare Oneself & the Science of Awakening is Traditional Yogic Technology
I have ADHD and the moment i wake my mind is instantly cluttered with songs, thoughts, and its so chaotic… I get frustrated and hit myself to bring me in the moment.. sometimes i scream and cry.. I don’t like it .. But i am not gonna sit around and let it swallow me.. I know its going to be very difficult but i believe with time if i keep working on it… I’ll be better
6:00 Be aware of sensory perception. Be aware of the awareness that makes sensory perception possible. I AM. The deep I. Most people never go deeper than the body and personality. 8:14 Sensory perception without labelling is a beautiful practice. The present is the portal to the transcendent dimension. Don’t treat it as a stepping stone, or as an adversary. Thanks Eckhart. 10 September 2024. 👍🏻🍇🌹😇🌜☘️🌜🐓🍻🇭🇰🍑💖🦜
Interesting that he still draws these large crowds. The beautiful message might have stayed the same, or even got refined, but Echart himseld is emitting such unrest, which I don’t find particularly inspiring. Eckart’s blink rate is ~100 blinks per minute, which indicates either stress or at least tons of racing thoughts. in addition to that, there’s partly unfinished or hectical sentences. I prefer older recordings, in which he himself is very calm while presenting his apporaches. I wish, Eckard can get back to be a practicing model of mindfulness and meditative states soon.
What a nice gift after an eternal day of work….🙏 I know nothing, seriously I feel like I know nothing about nothing but in certain moments of magical ✨and shining ✨stillness, I have the very vivid sensation that EVERYTHING, absolutely everything, from the mysterious appearance of the galaxies to today’s moment, they all are happening NOW that everything is now without temporal and spatial barriers. EVERYTHING is here now happening now and forever. Maybe I am just very tired, maybe IT’S true. Really I don’t know.❤ So grateful 💓🙏✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨🌺
Awareness is not a doing – it is simply seeing, and true meditation is awareness of what is, therefore not about doing at all. This means awareness of thought, life and action AS IT IS, which cannot take place if we are distorting what is with delusional attempts of the brain to be aware, which is idiocy, because awareness is always already there – it doesn’t need to be attained. Rather, one has to discover the importance of being aware of your life AS IT IS, and that discovery each of us has to make for themselves. As instruction it becomes another distortion and another practice to be imposed on the nature and distorting it’s movements which are struggling to adapt to an ever increasingly insane and demanding world. Part of this demanding world shouts ‘practice, meditate, become aware, be present’, which will never, ever liberate. It’s the growth our understanding of life through our understanding of our own life, and then beyond to an understanding of life itself, and that is our understanding of life, not someone else’s. If we really believe that other people can give you this understanding of life then this is the normal Western social conditioning, but no-one has ever found liberation through blind acceptance and following. Understanding is through observation, not instruction. Instruction and mere knowledge destroys the integrity of perception and the clarity of the brain and mind itself. Instruction to meditate is incompatible with true meditation, which is simply awareness of what is as it is, not the distortion of what is as it is by a practice trying to become aware.
