The fear of God is a fundamental principle in the life of any believer, serving as a safeguard and making us impervious to harm. It is a gift from God and is the primary guiding principle in any believer’s life. Genuine fear of God accompanies real faith, and a biblical fear of God includes understanding God’s hatred of sin and fearing His judgment on sin.
Fear can drive us away from faith in God and further into ourselves, leading to self-deluded comfort. Living in the fear of God and maintaining a healthy conscience ensures safety and protection, and when we revere the Lord, no evil can overpower us. Living radially different under Fatherly discipline is essential for living a healthy fear of God.
In Albert Martin’s book The Forgotten Fear, he lists eight directives for maintaining and increasing the fear of God in our hearts. The fear of the Lord is the fear of a loving child or a dutiful servant, gripped by a holy desire to please Him. Cultivating a lifestyle of fearing the Lord involves intimacy with God, spiritual disciplines, and making a conscious effort to please God.
The fear of God can add length to life by causing one to avoid violent activities, refrain from unhealthy eating, abstain from illicit sex, and say no. It is seen in revering God, worshipping God, fleeing from sin, living out of the gospel, fellowshipping with believers, and a desire to know God.
True, Spirit-born, biblically defined fear of God is a godly, loving, and trembling fear that casts the great shadow of eternity upon our every step. Fearing God is a result of God’s judging activity, which aims to justify, save, deliver, and vindicate those who honestly commit their sins.
The fear of God is said to be the beginning of wisdom and the whole duty of mankind. It is vital to a godly life and is connected to the themes of faithfulness and a fear of God in the Psalms.

How to live a god fearing life?
As we understand the attributes of God, the names of God, the triunity of God, the eternal decree of God, and the acts of God, a healthy, holy, reverential awe grows within our hearts. This awe is cultivated through prayer, worship, being with other believers who take God seriously, time in the Word, and even hearing sermons like Jonathan Edwards’ Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.
Proverbs 1:7 states that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and Ecclesiastes 12:13 emphasizes the end of all matters: to fear God and obey His commandments. The first step to entering the kingdom of God is to fear God, as it is the foundation of all true saving faith. We grow in fear throughout our Christian life, worshipping, adoreing, and loving Him more and more in our sanctification. The end is, above all, to fear God.
The fear of God is not the top priority in the modern church or the modern Reformed church. It is a missing element in the local church, and it is a part of our spiritual journey with the Lord.
What does the slogan fear of God mean?
The Hebrew term “awe-inspiring” is employed to delineate the reverential fear of the LORD, who is depicted as a supreme monarch over the earth, and is regarded as a source of unparalleled awe.
What does it mean to live in fear of God?
The Bible refers to the “fear of the Lord” as a deep respect, reverence, and awe for God’s power and authority. A proper fear of the Lord leads to love for Him, as it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. The Lord promises to repay those who trampled the Son of God, counted the blood of the covenant, and insulted the Spirit of grace. Godliness is profitable for all things, with promises of life now and in the future. In His presence, one can find fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore.
What does the term fear God mean?
Fear of God can refer to fear itself or a sense of awe and submission to a deity. People in monotheistic religions may fear Hell and divine judgment or submit to God’s omnipotence. The New Testament describes this fear using the Greek word ฯฯฮฒฮฟฯ (phobos), except in 1 Timothy 2:10, where Paul describes “women professing the fear of God” using the word ฮธฮตฮฟฯฮญฮฒฮตฮนฮฑ (theosebeia). From a theological perspective, “fear of the Lord” encompasses awe, reverence, adoration, honor, worship, confidence, thankfulness, love, and fear.
In the Magnificat, Mary declares God’s mercy to those who fear him, while Jesus describes the judge as one who neither feared God nor cared for man. Some translations of the Bible, such as the New International Version, sometimes replace “fear” with “reverence”.
What are the characteristics of fear of God?
The fear of God instills obedience, a deep desire to obey and please Him, not wanting to disappoint Him and taking responsibility for our actions. Godly fear goes beyond mere respect for God, acknowledging the reckoning that will take place. Paul wrote that we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, and knowing the terror of the Lord, we persuade men. David understood the connection between the fear of God and obedience, stating that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and a good understanding for those who do His commandments. This obedience and reverence towards God also led David to fellowship with others who shared this same godly fear, declaring themselves as a companion of those who fear God and follow His precepts.
What are examples of fear of the Lord?
Fear of the Lord is a crucial aspect of faith, as it encourages believers to trust in Him alone for salvation. The Israelites, after crossing the Red Sea, saw God destroy the Egyptian army and placed their trust in Him. The command to “fear God” or “fear the Lord” is often given to God’s people in the Old Testament, and it is essential for Christ’s followers today. By fearing God, we can avoid the natural pull towards defying God and engaging in immoral behavior.
The Fire Study Bible Notes explains that these commands are directed by God to teach believers to observe in the land they are crossing the Jordan to possess, so that they, their children, and their descendants may fear the Lord their God as long as they live by keeping His decrees and commands, and enjoy long life.
Is fearing God a good thing?
Those who revere the divine may expect to receive blessings such as wisdom, the avoidance of sin, and the motivation to engage in evangelism. Furthermore, it bestows a plethora of positive outcomes upon one’s life, as the Lord has pledged to instill a sense of reverence within their hearts, deterring them from deviating from His path. This fear serves as a testament to the power of faith and the blessings it bestows.
What do God fearing people do?
Human morals are shaped by both parental and spiritual beliefs, which influence our ethical decisions and behaviors. God-loving humans prioritize love, compassion, and empathy, believing that all creatures deserve love and respect. They prioritize self-love and their fellows, and holding judges is not a priority. God-fearing people, on the other hand, are guided by scriptures and strict upbringings, viewing moral behavior as a means to avoid divine punishment.
Both God-loving and God-fearing individuals share an undying belief in a higher power, which has been the basis of human survival. While there are downsides to being in fear of a compassionate being like God, the ultimate choice is up to the individual. Ultimately, the choice between God-loving or God-loving depends on the purity of one’s emotions, actions, and intentions.

What are the rules in the fear of God?
In Samuel XXIII. 3, the God of Israel commands that rulers must be just and in the fear of God. This is echoed in a sermon preached by Joseph Sewall, a pastor of a church of Christ in Boston, on May 27, 1724, during the election of His Majesty’s Council. The sermon was printed by B. Green and sold by Samuel Gerrish. 📹 WHY does the BIBLE SAY we have to FEAR GOD?
In this video, Daniel answers the question, ‘Why does the Bible say we have to fear God? Do you know why we need to fear God?
The Lord is the friend of those who obey him and he affirms his covenant with them. Psalms 25:14 GNT The Lord shares his plans with those who have respect for him. He makes his covenant known to them. Psalms 25:14 NIRV This is the key scripture for me. It explains everything. More wisdom, knowledge and understanding in the way of the Lord to DLM in Jesus name. Amen 🙏
My parents and grandparents had a church that preached a whole lot different then. The consequences of not fearing and loving God, and Christ. How we look at things in society. Daniel is one of the few I’ve found that actually tells you, that you can go to hell. Keep giving us this understanding. God bless you, your team. An your family

The fear of God means we have a deep respect, reverence and in awe of God’s Holy, Mighty and Powerful authority. So we desire to worship Him, love Him, obey Him and give all Glory to Him as our Lord God. Those who fear the Lord God, He calls them His Jewels and not only He remembers them, He will write them down in His book of Remembrance. He also promised to spare all those who fear Him, in the last days….( read Malachi 3: 16-18) NKJV God revealed Himself as our good and faithful Heavenly Father God…😃 God bless All and Amen. 💜โค💖
I recently came back to faith and since that time the spirit of darkness has been in full force to try and discourage me to say the least. Everyone who is a true Christian need to claim the promises of God daily and seek him through prayer and reading the Bible. God is all holy, powerful, just, righteous, and love. It’s not easy to be a true Christian! A daily battle! We must remember that God does love us and will carry us through life’s ups and downs if we believe him wholeheartedly and trust his promises! God Bless your website !!!
Thank you, Daniel. I have had people to ask me about this before and the explanation that you gave from the scriptures were great! I enjoy how you find the answers from scriptures and I wish I knew how to find the answers like you do or to remember which scripture that I find certain lessons in so I can find the answers without trying to find subject words to find what I am looking for. If that makes sense to you. Thank you again and God bless you and your family and your ministry. โ๏ธ🕊๏ธ🙏โ๏ธ💟โค๏ธ

I would never fear God he is the light that shines in me he gives me strength he helps me get through a lot of stuff that I go through and I think my Jehovah God for the blessings he gives my family there is just so much things that we need to not fear God we need to love him more than ever and Jesus Christ is the son of God he is there with us all the time
Daniel thank you for the understanding and the love that you share with us I love hearing you every single day you makes so much sense about the Bible when I read it I see stories I hear story I don’t know what a lot of the Bible means I get confused about a lot of things but you bring understanding to my mind and I love Jesus so much that when I speak like that I start to cry so thank you Daniel for being who you are and keep me about God I love you for that I really do God bless you
If you met him you’d understand. His presence alone radiates a force of such magnitude that it feels like the gravity of your own body is making you collapse infinitely, an anxious feeling, while also being filled with euphoric excitement that makes you want to shout praises at him. Glorious is the only way to describe him You won’t be able to look directly at him, and instinctually you will avert your gaze as his radiance is too much to bear. He doesn’t use words, he’s telepathic. He isn’t limited by language, he can project the information he wants to convey directly into your mind. Having god push something from his mind into mine, I felt like I understood things that were impossible to understand. Solutions to Paradoxes seemed simple. All of existence made sense. The mechanism that makes Consciousness was trivial. But having that in my head was destroying me. I didn’t want him to exit my mind. I feared and loved him. It was euphoric and frightening. I think my mind was going to break under the stress. We’re fragile. He can’t talk to you directly without pushing your soul to its limit, without nearly shattering an unprepared soul. He will subtly make suggestions from afar. He will make unlikely events happen just to let you know he’s there. He will put you in positions (like making you sad and listen to a song) that will give you a solution to the question you asked him. It’s a light touch. A heavy hand and direct contact may destroy you forever.
Very good article Daniel. Very well explained. Great choices of verses. Too many so-called Christian unfortunately keep sinning because they rely on God’s love and forgiveness but they forget that God is also righteous and give judgement. Our relationship with the Most High is exactly like a father and child relationship. He loves us and we love him but if we misbehave there will.be chastisement or punishment in order to correct us. Brothers and sisters, I know that sometimes we succumb to sins. But let us not be complacent. Walk after the Spirit and resist the flesh. For many of us it is a daily struggle, a daily fight but we must do all we can to avoid sins.Through prayers, study of the Bible and by worship in Spirit and truth we can slowly but surely overcome. For some it is easier than others but we can all improve. Beside, we are victorious thought Christ Jesus. Be blessed brethren.
Hello #DLMChristianLifestyle family. Excellent topic…thank you! 🙌 #DanielMaritz for the sake of feedback and, to anyone who might be considering any of your DLMCL merchandise; I currently have two styles (a 3rd t-shirt “Faith” is one the way to me now): the “Truth” t-shirt with the sword logo and this particular S.W.A.T. logo, both of which are absolute conversation starter’s, at least here in the U.S.A., which is such an opportunity for sharing the Bible! May The Lord Our God Richly Bless Us All With TRULY GOOD Things. 🙏โ💖
I wouldn’t say I like that we refer to God as “HE” I feel god transcends gender and it is more about energy. The Masculine and Feminine. Is that problematic for you if I refer to god as “SHE”? Also, so you understand for context I am not speaking for any subculture or referencing anything politically. Please let me know your thoughts.
I loved this article so so much. The Scriptures are so powerful. Thank you. We need to fear God as He is Holy. That is so so true that not many churches preached that anymore as they soft serve the Word and bring God down to their level of entertainmentโฆ He loves us so much as to die on the cross so we need to love, fear and respect Him as our Heavenly Father. When we realise the power of the cross and what it took for Christ to die for our sins we would have an even more longing to live a life that is pleasing unto Him. May we have a heart of surrendering all the Him. 😢💗 God bless 💕🙏🏻
Daniel please I have a very important question. We know that in the spirit world, They exist only two forces. The forces of light (God) and the forces of evil (The Devil). However, In 1 Samuel 16:14-15, It says that an evil spirit from God was tormenting Saul, Since when does God associate himself with evil. But despite all things, I know deep down that God is not evil but could you please try explaining it to me so that I could clear my doubts. Thank you.
All of you should because none if you see the invisible machine or the hidden judgement placed upon your spirit. To see ones creation one must see their extinction. NONE OF YOU MADE OF FLESH ARE BEING TAUGHT NOTHING OF ANY IMPORTANCE. UR BEING TAUGHT ABOUT FLESH/MONEY NOT SPIRIT/DEATH TO BE ABLE TO SEE UR JUDGEMENT BEFORE U TAKE UR LAST BREATHE
Why fear God? Jesus gives us an answer: Luk 12:4 “I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. Luk 12:5 But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him! God has the power to send people to Hell, even Christians. He still has that power, even after one’s conversion: Rom 11:22 Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off. (If you die in a cut-off condition, you will go to Hell. Stay in God’s kindness!)
The Gospel of Grace The Gospel for EVERYBODY TODAY 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV 15ย Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2ย By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3ย For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4ย And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Galatians 1:11-12 11ย But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12ย For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Fear ot Yahweh is beginning of knowledge of wisdom. 6832 times Yahweh changed to The Lord, Yahshua changed to Yeshua tranliterated to Jesus. Yahshua is Son of Yahweh, also is Yahshua Ha Mashiyah that brings Redemption thru his blood. Where Ruach HaKodesh is from the Father there is liberty. Call on Yahweh Yahshua and be saved no other name. No one comes to the Father Yahweh except thru the Son Yahshua. Dozens of Yahweh Yahshua bibles available. Play James Block
If Jesus says: Ye are god, then that means we too are like God, in the image and form of duality. If you’ve read the bible, you can clearly see that God was NOT “good” all the time. The nature of God’s reality presented a duality of both Good and Evil. … and no matter how upset we may get, this is a fact (according to the bible). The point I’m trying to make is when Jesus says “Ye are gods” (john 10:34) this mean we are of the nature of good and evil. It then only makes sense for us to FEAR our evil nature, being that it (ourself) will be the one to punish us, and not God. The bible is a psychological book. We get too caught up in the stories, without trying to understand the true meaning, and/or what these meaning can mean in our life. We have to stop making God out to be this monster!! I truly believe that there is no greater sin to keep making God to be a monster.
6832 times Yahweh changed to The Lord, Yahshua changed to Yeshua, in error Yeshua tranliterated in KJV to Jesus 1638. Jesus Christ is the Spirit of error. The Greek believers called themselves Christians first in Antioch. Yahshua means Yahweh is salvation, Yahweh is love, Yahweh is light, Yahweh is the King of glory. What a horrible insult to change His name to the lord and Yahshua to Y’shua. The time is at hand Rev 1-3, there will be a new Heaven and new earth, a new Yahrusalem coming down from Heaven. Elohim himself will dwell with his people, a chosen people a royal priesthood a holy nation. No more curse, no more death, we shall see His Face and His name will be on our foreheads. The devil has deceived the whole world Jesus and the lord are false with no salvation. Yahshua said we must be born of Ruach HaKodesh and call on Yahweh in Yahshua’s name and be saved. Dozens of Yahweh Yahshua bibles are available. Play James Block music!
I just can’t believe myself after years of serving the Lord faithfully, I slowly drifted away from him until I was deep again into sin not fearing God! I wish I can come back sisters and brothers but I’m too weak now,I can’t even lift a finger😣I do want to be saved and the same time j just want to be abundant because I don’t deserve anymore rescuing! If I will just go back! Please pray for me and maybe some day I will change completely 😥😪😖
Being a Christian and knowing God I only really have one question for him. How is it God made rachels of this world. Really beautiful attractive people, who by the way are not all stuck up and conceited. There’s people who are beautiful inside and outside. And though looks fade let’s be honest this beautiful attractive people who love Jesus will go to heaven being back to their younger beautiful attractive self and times more because they’ll have a glorified body. But God has also made leahs of this world. People who aren’t as beautiful and are unattractive or very plain looking and in heaven they’ll still be ugly where’s a Rachel can be beautiful externally and internally and go to heaven forever being their beautiful lovel self. I never understood that. Why would God make beautiful people and ugly to ordinary people it seems unfair. It’s not like Leah choosed to be ugly. When reality is the sisters came from the same parents and just as much as Rachel is beautiful in form and figure so Leah could’ve been too. In fact all people could have been. This I find confusing and hurtful when I think about god. Please sister help me with this thought. I talk to God about . Another question would be if our society has different views on beauty and beauty is subjective. How is it that in the Bible instead of saying that Leah was not beautiful in Jacob’s eyes, because it’s his own opinion of her and that he didn’t love her, which goes on to say that she could have been possibly beautiful and worth loving to another man.
16For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.ย 17For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealedโa righteousness that is by faith from first to last,ย eย just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”ย f
Abba Dorotheos (a monk in the 500s) said once that a person is afraid of God’s punishment first (s/he is a slave). Then s/he is afraid of losing the wage if s/he is not obedience and loyal (s/he is a servant). Finally, person is afraid of losing God if s/he turns back from God and does sins (s/he is a child of God). The first fear is based on… fear. The last fear is based on loving God. First person fears what God would do for him/her, but finally s/he fears what s/he is doing for God and himself/herself.
I love God but fear him. I want to follow his commands, and I seek his conviction. I seek to do better so I can live holy, I don’t want to live in sin. I have faith and believe in our Lord Jesus, I want to to be saved and bring others to heaven. My relationship with God matters to me and I want to keep growing and strengthening my bond with our Lord Almighty.
Should there be some fear to keep us from sinning? I only fear him in an unhealthy way right now. But I remember the fear of the lord it was not a threatening fear but still a reverence knowing we are fully forgiven and God loves us perfectly but we wouldn’t want to sin to test his spirit still. This I remember, but I did sin and feel like I fell away. Is there a way to get the fear of God back and walk on the narrow way again?
What a load of rubbish. The fear of God is a step backwards, not the beginning of wisdom. God does not want fear from us, he wants love. God is love. He created a universe built with love. In this universe there is no place for fear. So a fear of God does not help us anymore than it helps God. Man has always feared the unknown, therefore if we fear God we will never know God. If we fear God, we are no better than terrified cavemen throwing rocks at the moon as it rises in the night sky. So if we fear God, what have we learned? Nothing.
If I examine myself to see if I am in the faith and feel like I don’t pass the test, but I also understand that it is God who grants grace and faith to believe unto salvation. How do I know if I am saved? Its all on God and yet no matter how many times I pray and tell Him “I am a sinner and need your saving grace, I believe Jesus lived. Died. Rose again and sits on the right hand of the father interceding for us” I just dont feel peace, a desire to read the word, I fall into the same sins repeatedly, I am anxious, I am judgmental and angry. I don’t want to feel this way anymore. We are not supposed to compare ourselves with others but I want to be a brother in Christ. What am I to do to gain that (the bible says nothing, its all on God) am I to just feel terrible everyday until God saves me and I can finally repent?
When you live in fear you have not come to understanding god’s word for Christ Jesus to be god’s word and essence and nature of Christ Jesus to be true resemblance to God’s grace and worship in spirit and truth understanding it’s our own personal lives and religions have created many ways of worship and rules and laws and regulations and practices in worship themselves Pharisees and understanding Pharisees in fattening themselves and their families and not being deceived by religious slavery. Jesus to setting us free for to worship in our own closet in private prayer church worship antichrist worship lucifer worship. They having used their power to control the people using worship and profiting from their dishonesty.
You really need to learn the difference between fear and respect. I have a respect for things that are dangerous, but I don’t fear them. I ever became more than momentarily fearful of something I loved I would come to realize I no longer loved that thing. I can be in awe of something, but that doesn’t require fear. So is it respect or fear that I should follow the rules, can’t be both.
But to completely love god wont need to fear him and the reason i looked it up is cause i genuinely 100% believe in god and Jesus christ and i know he loves me with all his heart and i have put my faith in Christ and admitted to sin and asked for forgiveness and a true christian will feel bad about every single sin they knowingly and unknowingly commit
I know I have been forgiven for my past sins against God. I know he loves me like I love him but I am a shame in what I did in the past . When I started to read my bible I started in the old Testament God did many things to people because they sin against him. God got mad at those people even ending their life . That’s why I fear God but I love and respect him to . So I keep that in mind before I sin against him again . Then I started to read the new Testament about Jesus I felt better about things with God. I thank God every day for sending Jesus down to everyone. But I keep that fear in me about God so I will never sin again. Now have I answered your question I hope so .
HOLY FEAR TO GOD COMMANDS NOT TO SIN FEAR NOT FACING TROUBLES FEAR NOT ENEMIES WHO WORKERS OF EVIL EVEN DEMONS FEAR JESUS 😊👍.. THEY KNEW WHAT GOD CAN DO.. If you ever think you have fear god you are sadly mistaken.and how can you call people unwise and my friend I understand it all and then some which all have yet to understand hence why I’m here to undo it all for every lost soul which is everyone even if you think you know I’m here to undo what you think
Praise be to God🙌👑 Jesus Christ🙌👑Amen🙏 God bless you brother👍 for clearly teaching 👍God bless your family and ministry👍Fear of God means, humble down before God 🙌 and obey God’s word every day, practice righteousness live a holy life .and not to fall in sin, not to give pleasure to sin . Not to fall into any kind of sin, what we sow we have to reap, we have to reap in the spirit of God. God bless all🙌👍🌸.
it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God,,,, Jesus said don’t fear man that can destroy the body but rather fear him that can destroy both body and soul in hell…. God is not out to cause you any harm but he is a just and holy God and is long suffering and patient with us but he chastises whom he loves for our benefit also he cannot will not abide sin
I just want someone to please answer me if they can My son his wife were going through this bad bad marriage okay but she came over yesterday before yesterday and her children did too the holy Spirit came in me and I was praising it so good and all of a sudden she goes we need to sit down and get on our knees and pray this prayer that’s in the music oh no I went my way and what I’m asking is that my light was on in my room and all of a sudden I mean when I was praising Jesus to help my son and his family this bright bright light I saw it coming towards me in like it went to my eyes and I heard like a flash but the light was very strong and I still kept my eyes closed and continue to pray but I’m wondering what was that light that flashed into my eyes when I was praying to Jesus to heal and to help my son because he was really going to so much and now today he told me he’s doing a lot better thank you Jesus but could someone tell me what that light was
Yes we have to fear God because there’s like he’s like a brothers telling us when children do not act right they fear us Jesus and God do not like evil stuff that adults do nowadays so yes we do need to fear him because if we don’t fear him I believe things will not be good with us we have to obey the ten commandments
We should fear to disobey God. “Perfect love drives out fear” but who has perfect love for God? For what does God say is love towards Him? Obedience. For Jesus says “If you love Me you will obey what I command.” Who here obeys Christ perfectly so that they don’t have to fear? “Do not fear those who can destroy the body only, rather fear God Who can destroy both body and soul in hell.” Matthew 10:28. Whoever sins needs to fear God- and this is written to Christians, not to the worldly.
Yeah this article really reminded me of the power and holyness of God almighty. Even though i am a christian you don’t always think about it and I am very glad you reminded me! Also the passage of Revalation was stunning. Have read it but there’s a bit of time since then. Continue what you are doing and spread the WORD which is healing and convincing and has the power to let people know god something that you don’t hear in school or on big parts on YouTube. Thank you very much and if my English is not the best, it isn’t my mother language, I’m from germany – you can watch my testamony on German if you want😉
“If Iย adore You out of fear of Hell, Burn me in Hell! If Iย adoreย you out of desire for Paradise, lock me out of Paradise. But if Iย adoreย you for yourself alone, do not deny to me Your eternal beauty.” – Rabia al-Basri. If you are constantly fearing God, then you don’t really know God. If you are telling other people they need to constantly fear God, they also don’t know God. The bible does not say we should fear God, but respect and admire Gods awe, power, wisdom, and attributes.
We should lay down our lives for one another, that is put aside our selfish desires and even our thoughts and feelings as things not worth keeping because his Word, Jesus Christ, is a living PERSON, not a dead man who wrote a book that can be interpreted to suit ourselves! Because GOD, who is the one whose words are written down for us is able to explain what his words mean. I can’t even give a good account of MY words, because MY words are DEAD to anyone who reads them, the only LIFE is with the living person reading them! So, I deny myself, and ask the Holy Spirit to TELL you what these words mean and don’t mean, in a way useful and meaningful to YOU as a person God loves! I myself, remain absolutely silent!
Your humility, truth and focus on Jesus is something really admirable. Amazing. Thank you, not only that but your setting an example for many woman on what they should look for in a man, that men like you with true passion for God exist โค๏ธ would you please do a article on cessationist and your opinion of the completion of the apostolic gifts please.
I was contemplating this the other night. And I think it’s impossible for humans to fear a thing and love the same thing simultaneously. Fear and love are diametrically opposed. So as humans we can’t do both. It’s either fear or love but not both. Niccolรฒ Machiavelli said “it is much safer to be feared than loved because …love is preserved by the link of obligation which, owing to the baseness of men, is broken at every opportunity for their advantage; but fear preserves you by a dread of punishment which never fails.” โ Niccolo Machiavelli, The Prince. He was talking about rulers and their subjects but it also applies in this case, because humans can’t fear someone and love them simultaneously.
Hi everyone, I am turning 25 on the 26th of December, I am going for baptism on Sunday the 28th of November, I have a girlfriend who I have been dating for 2 years and a month, we are intimate, the feeling I have after sex is haunting, I intend to marry her, I was in the process of making it official with her family, from the Nguni cultural view we have to send a letter, so that my family can have a meeting with her family, for the purpose of having me introduce myself, so the Lobola negotiations can commence, Long story short, we are not married, it’s only her. We attend the same church, I am in the praise team, but her family has responded to the letter saying she is too young to get married. I cannot break up with her, but the thought of me continuing to copulate with her after my baptism scares me. I have been postponing my baptism for the same reason! Please help!!
Im facing trials and tribulations! I’m discouraged! I lost my job over not wanting the vaccine due to my pre existing health conditions (lupus) I’m a single mother with two children both are autistic. Im so ashamed I can’t even afford Thanksgiving dinner this year. I have no family or friends that may help me. I feel all alone. Facing homelessness next month, but keeping faith! In GOD!
the bible is not meant to be used as a hammer….my mother is over 70 years old…she has a hammer….and was a pastor who studied the greek and the hebrew ..i walked in fear…balance of judgement, and was constantly worried about not pleasing god …i wanted jesus to be lord and ruler…i dont believe anyone here on earth has the balance…i wish it was so…jesus said u will know the truth and it will set u free…it is a individual walk…but god says we need each other…anyone who talks like they have like they have the truth..or big picture i would be leery of them…i just keep asking jesus to show me the truth…the power of god lies in jesus being lord!!..but everything comes down to …(your life is not your own)…i need you jesus…help me to lay down my life and take up my cross!!
