There are various trend development models, including Everett Rogers’ “Diffusion of Innovation” model, which is considered reliable.

The Bazaar team is currently in the shopping mode for the best fall 2024 trends, which have been popular since the autumn/winter 2024 runway shows. These trends include colorful layers, circle skirts, leopard print, boxy jackets, over-the-knee boots, new tailoring, boho forever, double bags, and more. Gucci’s over-the-knee boots and Bottega Veneta’s minimal-yet-oversized wide-leg trousers are some of the highlights. Statement accessories and paired-back classics are also available.

Even in gloomy weather, brightly colored separates can add joy to layering, or mix-matched statement pieces like a crew-neck and cardigan under a wool coat. Pairing these with jeans and ballet flats adds a pop of prep.

What are the fashion trend seasons?

Fashion is divided into four seasons: Spring/Summer, Fall/Winter, Resort, and Pre-Fall. The two main seasons are Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter, which are showcased at Fashion Week in London, Milan, New York, and Paris. What is the fashion trend in spring and summer 2024?

Designers at the spring/summer 2024 fashion shows signaled a shift away from the euphoric shots of color and frothy pastels with a bevy of swan-white dresses. The most talked-about collection was the one that wasn’t there, Phoebe Philo, yet to unveil the first fruits of her eponymous line. Her cult status as fashion’s messiah was heightened by the news that the spring/summer 2024 show would be Sarah Burton’s last collection for Alexander McQueen, with Gabriela Hearst also departing Chloé.

Incoming brands include Sabato de Sarno at Gucci, Peter Hawkings at Tom Ford, Peter Do at Helmut Lang, and Louise Trotter at Carven. At LVMH, only Dior and Pucci have female creative directors, while Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo are eponymously run. At Kering, the second biggest fashion conglomerate, not a single brand is helmed by a woman or a person of color.

Fall 2024 fashion trends are resetting wardrobes with boho, heritage-inspired styles, plaid coats, and sharp blazers. All-jeans outfits, tall, structured boots from Prada, Bally, and Gucci, minimalist ballet flats, and classic T-bar shoes from Bottega Veneta, Ferragamo, and Tory Burch are gaining popularity. These trends are fresh from autumn’s best catwalks and are expected to be worn this season and beyond.

  • Amazing tips!! Hey do you think you can do another come back, what new things you learned since the article you posted: How I Lost 15 Pounds (And My Stubborn Belly Fat) in Just Over 3 Months (Over 40 Weight Loss). Are you still taking the same supplements? How much the weight fluctuated since then? I know you are NOT a dietary expert but I have to say that that article saved my life back then!! I also went pre-menopausal at 42 and have tried all as you until I followed your plan and I also lost 5 kg right away. Please please please, more tips on the topic would be lovely!!! Love you Ereen!!!!

  • I love Boho dresses, maxi skirts, upscale tops and live anraod in a place where they suit the weather year round. Winters just a light sweater instead of the boho top. With these I wear classics…blazers for winter….short jackets Imhave a small hourglass body and am Kibbe Romantic style…. I feel.uner comfortanle in these styles Preppy Classic mixed with western ala Ralph Lauren …they are really ME. I dont usually wear them for city wear ie the Boho Romantic bit I will take a few this year on my summer city vacations.

  • Erin, do you recommend any online retailers for clothes etc.? This top I wanted to buy sold out at department stores online, but I still see it sold on other websites, (but I wasn’t sure which ones are legit as I’ve never shopped there)… Do you like any of these websites for clothes: 1) Mytheresa, 2) Gilt, 3) Bluefly, 4) Shop Premium Outlets, 5) RueLaLa? <3 Thanks!

  • Just recently discovered your work! Love it! I can’t seem to find the green dress you showed? Would that print be on the bold/large side (Just watched a few of your articles from the past).? I’m 5’2″, a young and energetic 59 and don’t want to look like I’m trying to be my daughter’s age. Thanks for all you do!

  • My problem is the heels, my back just can’t take them anymore! So, I need days that I can wear flats. But, like you, I’m short and heels complement me… a lot! I need fashion suggestions where I can wear flats and not feel frumpy. Where I can feel stylish and beautiful. Wearing flats would help remove the look of agony from my face at the end of the day and certainly help how I relate to my clients at the end of the day. 💖🌞🌵😷

  • Hi Erin! Seeing you uploading a article every time is like seeing an “old friend”. I am always glad to see you shining bright from within as fashion is your true passion. I love fashion since I was a child, but sometimes I just lost my sense and interest of fashion when real life is getting overwhelming with tasks. But your content and your approach brings me back to my “fashion fun mindset” and I always feel more delightful after perusal your articles! Thank you soooo much!!!! ❤❤❤

  • Hi Erin, I love your articles and your advice is so valuable to me. You truly are a huge inspiration for me. You are so wise and I so appreciate your sharing. I really love your style. Last spring i ordered some of the items you recommended and have really enjoyed them. Somehow through some challenging times I have lost part of myself. Last year you did a really important article. I am paraphasing and what you had to say was so much more valuable but I have watched it several times and each time I recieve words of wisdom from you. You were encouraging us tclose our eyes and envision a time perhaps when we felt more comfortable and at peace with who we are. When we felt good. Then to try and recreate those feelings and write down what came to mind. Is it possible to pm you. I would really appreciate if i could ask your advice on a few things please. Thank you for all the gifts you share. 💝💖💝

  • Yes to all of this, Erin. I can do most of these and have these elements in my wardrobe. My faves are the sheer trend (I have a lot of mesh tops), lots of Farm Rio. I just bought a burgundy Chanel small flap as my classic. We do have a lot of options and I wear what feels right on me (and try not to be too over the top or silly). I appreciated this inspirational article! 😍😍

  • Hi, Erin! I was so happy to see a article; the content was amazing and as always, you look gorgeous. I have always told you that your articles are simply the best and have taught me and helped me fine tune my style in ways that will last forever. You have introduced me to brands and websites that I still shop today. Thank you so much, love you, my friend. Josette💓🌹💓

  • At my age, 64, and with my bust size, I really don’t want to wear anything that requires a strapless bra, like a bandeau top. So, I also don’t bother with off-the-shoulder tops, even though they’re trendy. Strapless bras just don’t give enough support for a larger bust and they’re also really uncomfortable, depending on a really tight band alone to stay up. Most have those silicone bands, too, and because they stick on skin, the bra can’t be turned around, so the cups are in the front, after being fastened in front – the only way to hook such a tight bra band. I just can’t manage getting one of those on without help, which is usually the case. I only wear one if I absolutely have too, like in a bridesmaid dress or something like that. (Fortunately, H&M offers some good ones without those horrible silicone strips, and for good prices. I have one black and one nude from them, for the rare occasions when I have to wear them). I could wear one-shoulder tops, bras are available for those, but I don’t like any asymmetrical features in my clothes.

  • I hated last year’s obnoxious Barbie Pink, but I love pale, cool-toned, pastel pinks. I hope I can find some nice items in this color. Unfortunately, many brands are combining pinks with the horrible peach trend. When this happens, finding cool-toned pinks is usually impossible, brands are reluctant to offer more than one color, plus endless black. It wasn’t always this way, most items used to come in 4 to 6 color options, if not more. I’m looking forward to seeing the pastel blues that are supposedly trending, so where are they? At least, we cool-toned types got lots of taupe to choose from last year, and cool chocolate brown this year, after 25 years of domination by those yellowish, camel beiges and warm cognac/tan browns.

  • I love bandeau tops in theory. In reality however most of those that hold up also tend to flatten the breasts unfortunately – or maybe I tried all the wrong ones 😂 sadly my verdict so far is bandeau tops are great for women with very small breast where not so much can be flattened or for the silicone ladies because nothing can flatten those not even lying on your back. I love the look of a cute bandeau so so much though! I’ll continue the search for a flattering one for me 🤓

  • She sells seashell by the seashore. 🤣😂🤣 It starting to warm up again and so I been doing some yard work to get the yard ready for the season. Pretty good list to get us into the spring vibe in our closets. I really like the idea of the crop trench and the mesh shoes but there some mesh pumps from Zara that I am favoring at this point. Thanks for sharing and blessings to you and all in the days to come.

  • I love the look of slip dresses, off the shoulder tops, halter styles, etc. I wish I could wear them but going bra less is not an option for me & I cannot find strapless in my size 😢 Some summer dress styles I can layer a tank under to cover up the bra. I wish they made slip dress & cami style tops with thicker straps. Anyway, looks amazing on those who can wear them. Always love a maxi in the Summer 😊

  • Absolutely loving asymmetrical (one shoulder) tops! Sorry but a huge no for me on netted ballet flats and quilted bags – yikes! Definitely trends that won’t last in my opinion… Bandeau tops are classic but, not for me; whenever I wear anything resembling a tube top, I spend half the day pulling it up!

  • Just a quick question I’ve always wanted to know, is it called Spring or Fall in your country right now (April). I’m assuming it is considered Fall (Autumn) there cause it’s Spring here in the US, or do y’all consider it Spring? Not sure, pls let me know, I do know it will be getting cold there soon. I LOVE the cooler weather cause we get some suffocating brutal heat and humidity here in the Southeastern part of the US.

  • Great trends, like most but not bandeau tops. To me it’s like those clingy mini dresses, these things you have keep pulling up or down lol . White monochromatic look. I don’t even like white, well real white doesn’t fit me well. It’s too cool tone, but I just splurged on Prada maxi shirt dress😳🤪. I just loved that interesting style, it’s made inspired to uniforms. It’s structured, so it could worn dress up, but also many other ways, including over jeans or pants. Slip dresses ah I have navy one from the row. But the dress I wanted so much I missed it. Waited to go down the price, and it went, but was middle of the night, so decided to do later…and it’s gone😂😂😂 and now I can’t find. It was 2 colors of red one darker red but the other that bright red . Ah perfect style everything, and now I am obsessed thinking, just get Italian silk and get it made by tailor. But of course, now it’s going to cost me more than double probably 😩 ah I am not giving up. Lesson learned never wait if you really like it. Love mesh ballerinas . If I find in my big size, I am getting it Have a blessed day🙏❤️

  • “Brilliant White” is one of Pantone’s colors this year, but I’m having a heck of a time finding clothes and accessories in true white. Apparently, brands missed the memo, everything is still the ecru that has dominated for the past few years. I have cool-undertone coloring, I want true, bright white! Those yellowish ivory/cream/ecru tones don’t suit me, it’s bad enough that we get stuck with those “winter whites” in all cold season apparel. Of course, white tees and button-front shirts are available, but I don’t just want more of these basics. It’s the spring/summer season now, bring on the bright whites!

  • Those black mesh ballet flats would be killer with a spongy thick wedge soul on them, like a Steve Madden sandal or something so they wouldn’t be so “flat” to walk in for those of us who need more support between the ground and our feet. Btw love your very relaxed, happy vibe in this vid, cracking some jokes even 🙂 and was that your cat’s tail I saw walk by? 😃👌🏻😎

  • Just bought the COS Ripple crossbody and I can’t wait to get it. I love the soft plush feeling of quilted bags but they don’t look as upscale as I would like but the leather Ripple bag is chic, upscale, and I’m in love. Thank you showing me a way to stay true to my style and still be on trend with these gorgeous bags.

  • Can check some of the boxes already that you featured today. i.e.: Mesh footwear though a hybrid of a ballet flat and a sneaker with its rubber sole purchased a few years ago. Striped shirt, white pants and jeans. Also do love your tip of ‘popping on a CB bag with an over sized shirt, will give you a little more shape’. As to your bandeau top, we in the Americas refer its fabric to ‘waffle or popcorn weave’. Last but not least; re the quilted bags IMHO would definitely add some texture to an otherwise plain outfit with a tightly woven weave and perhaps even add a jolt of color compared to what a leather one would. Would love to be able to wear either an asymmetrical shoulder top or even a slip skirt, however shall leave those styles to you younger ones. (I’m 76 … 🤫) With appreciation of your fashion sense.

  • Aloha from Honolulu, Leonie! Thank you for such a great Spring 2024 Fashion Trend article! I LOVE the quilted bag trend, asymmetric tops and jumpsuits and shell jewelry trends. You make all these new trends very wearable for the average person, and give me so many ideas on what to look for in this Spring season! I will watch your 2024 Spring Jewelry trends next. Also, loving the waves in your hair!

  • Leoni, you look great! I love whites all year long and I think I will try red and pink together. Unfortunately I am too old for bandeau and the asymetrical styles which I really love. Not a fan of the sneaks or ballet flats or the quilted bags. Would you do a article on more structurd bags and maybe some straw bags and some footwear woth kitten heel pr higher? Thank you.

  • White skirts, shorts and pants of all inseams were my uniform last year. Pairs equally well with brights, tints, shades and muted colors. So versatile. Sandwiches colored tops with matching sandals or sneakers and other matching or analogous colors on sunglasses, scarves and sunglasses. Investing in bright frames with ombre colored reflective tints on prescription lenses. Leaning into colors even more this year. Loving pink and orange combos this year. Add cranberry to transition to fall. Avoiding black again. Navy is great for spring but preferring the light washes for summer . Muted colors like avocado, lavender, peach, yellow seem to be taking on a neutral function, especially avocado and lavender used together or in accessories. All shades of browns looking great combined with many unexpected color combos. Not a fan of the puffed fabric bags due to quality issues, easy soiling. I believe the point of the puff is to add structure and volume to a bag, especially totes. I think I would rather add an interior corrugated board to create structure to a bag, especially if it would mean being able to have a more durable leather shell. What’s happening down under with summer hats. I understand you would be coming to the end of your summer season and I am wondering what hats you recommend for summer sun protection. Baseball caps or wide brim straw? Scarves? Are SPF rash guards popular, or just lotion? As I age, I am looking for better protection options. I understand you guys are the experts.
